Freedomsoutcast’s guide* to RPing

freedomsoutcast:

* it’s not really a guide, I am just listing out common courtesy and respectful acts that should be well known among every RPer but for some reason isn’t.

1. Never constantly pester an RPer for a reply.

  • It’s rude.
  • It’s annoying.

3. Communicate with your partners.

3. No one is required to RP with people they don’t want to.

  • Some people may like how you play your muse, others won’t.
  • Put on your big boy pants, get over it, and find someone else to RP with.

4. Let your partner take their time for an ask or RP.

  • Do not make your partner feel like shit for taking their time.
  • No one is required to reply within a certain time limit and if someone has more muse for a different thread then so be it.
  • They will get to your RP when they can.
  • Don’t be scared to send your partner a heads up, when used sparingly, it is helpful.
  • Reminder, this is a hobby, not a job. (If it is your job then hmu, I could use the money.)

5. Communicate with your partner.

6. Before you ask someone to RP with you… READ THEIR GUIDELINES.

  • Nothing is more appealing than knowing an RPer read your guidelines before asking.
  • Likewise, nothing is more off putting than an RPer asking for an RP that goes against your guidelines.

7. Communicate with your partner.

8. Tag your partner’s url in replies, it makes it easier to find if it ever gets lost.

9. Communicate with your partner.

10. Lastly, have fun. make this community a pleasant community for everyone involved.

  • if you have a problem with another RPer then (as scary as it is,) confront them privately about it. No passive aggressive posts that start drama. It’s annoying for the onlookers and for the parties involved.
  • If confrontation is too scary for you then ignore them, and move on.
  • Oh and drama among an RPing community is very pointless.
  • Correction, drama in general is pointless. Most of the time, it’s just a misunderstanding.

Thank you, that is all.
